TORTOLA, BVI – The Rotary Club of Central Tortola has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families in need by donating a significant quantity of food items to the Family Support Network (FSN). This contribution follows the successful completion of the club’s Community Food Drive Challenge 2024, which mobilized Rotarians, businesses, and the wider community to collect non-perishable food items for distribution.
The official handover ceremony was held at Tortola Auto Group’s (TAG) modern showroom, where representatives from Rotary, FSN, and TAG gathered to mark the occasion. The initiative saw overwhelming support from corporate partners and community members, reinforcing the collective effort to address food insecurity in the BVI.
TAG Managing Director, Mr. Shan Mohamed, expressed the company’s commitment to community development, stating, “Tortola Auto Group is proud to support the Rotary Club of Central Tortola’s Community Food Drive Challenge, reinforcing our shared commitment to uplifting families in need. We sincerely thank FSN for their partnership and for the invaluable work they do in the community.”
FSN Pantry Coordinator, Ms. Sandra Mills expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the increasing demand for assistance.
Ms. Mills stated, “We deeply appreciate this generous donation and all that Rotary continues to do for the community. We have served over 1,000 families and continue to receive applications from individuals in need. Our team remains dedicated to ensuring that resources are distributed fairly and efficiently to prevent abuse of the system, and this contribution will go a long way in helping us achieve that goal.”
